Tell Your Senators to Vote Against Immunity!

On July 8, the Senate plans to take up legislation to revise the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). H.R. 6304 will almost certainly allow for the dismissal of lawsuits against telecommunications companies that helped with the administration's warrantless surveillance program. Email you senators and tell them to stop telecom immunity.

TIGTA Report Reveals Problems with PACI Program

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) has released an audit report to determine the effectiveness of the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) Political Activities Compliance Initiative (the Initiative). The audit found that employees reviewing PACI cases do not always understand why some referrals are being considered. The IRS expects an active 2008 election cycle, and will start the Initiative even earlier this year.
