CSS has assembled three publications -- Special Access for Special Interests, Shirking Responsibility, Backdoor Extremism,
and Myths and
Consequences -- pertaining to specific issues within the regulatory
reform debate.
2) Special Access for Special Interests
Discusses how powerful special interests are bankrolling and,
in some cases, drafting the legislation aimed at rolling back
current community and environmental safeguards. Includes charts
and tables listing the top PAC Contributors and major benefactors,
as well as specific examples of how current proposals would help
various special interests. (July, 1995)

1) Backdoor Extremism
Examines how the federal budget appropriations process has been
exploited by members of the 104th Congress in order to rollback
federal safeguards. The report provides specific examples how
of budgetary "riders" are being used to stop enforcement
of various protections and outlines the consequences of these
bills becoming law.

3) Myths & Consequences
Counters the argument that most federal regulations are "stupid
and silly." By offering a detailed analysis of several protections
that have been called into question, the report goes beyond the
horror stories and erroneous claims offered in many anti-regulations
sound bytes and provides simple explanations for the often misunderstood
procedures and requirements that are needed for many federal safeguards.
