Tides Report Gauges Direction of Progressive Movement
The Tides Foundation has released results of a survey it conducted of its 2004 grantees and Tides Center projects to gauge the current direction of the progressive movement.

The report covers a number of themes, including what groups are doing and/or how they feel about things like electoral participation, messaging, and cross-field collaboration.

463 organizations participated in the survey. The report is here.

Congressional Schedule
Both the House and Senate are in session this week. The Senate will consider a resolution expressing sympathy for victims of Hurricane Katrina, a resolution recognizing the contributions of Chief Justice William Rehnquist and the FY06 Commerce, Justice, Science spending bill. The House will consider a Coast Guard authorization bill, legislation designed to aid manufacturers and a number of non-controversial bills, including bills aimed at helping small businesses deal with regulations and encouraging minority ownership.

Both the House and Senate leadership are expected to meet this week to discuss a supplemental spending/stimulus bill to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
