Delaney Parrish: Development and Communications Associate

Delaney Parrish is the Development and Communications Associate at OMB Watch. In this role, she works across departments to raise the profile of OMB Watch’s work with funders, supporters, donors, allies, and the general public.

Delaney has a B.A. in English-Professional Writing from Virginia Tech. She also holds a minor in Women’s Studies. As a student, Delaney worked for the English department as a tutor and peer editor for students across the university’s programs. She also worked at the Women’s Center at Virginia Tech as a peer counselor for issues related to sexual and relationship violence. In her final year at school, Delaney founded and taught an after-school, creative writing class for girls at a local middle school, which she considers one of her most rewarding experiences to date.

Delaney also holds an M.A. in Public Communication from American University. At American, Delaney studied public affairs campaigns and tactics as they apply to the nonprofit sector. Her thesis concerned framing mechanisms used by women’s advocacy organizations and their success in marketing traditional feminist issues to younger generations of men and women.

A native of Northern Virginia, Delaney is glad that her move inside the Beltway has finally allowed her to ditch her car. She enjoys reading, following feminist blogs, and playing her iPod far too loudly.
