Zients Officially Confirmed as first Chief Performance Officer

 

After clearing the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Jeffrey D. Zients was approved by the full Senate as the government's first-ever Chief Performance Officer.  In addition to his CPO duties, Zients will also serve as Deputy Director of Management at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). 

Welcome MatThe agency's director, Peter R. Orszag, officially welcomed him on OMB's website and listed a few of the challenges that Zients will face: government hiring and retention practices, contracting reform, program evaluation, and e-government.  This is Zients' first job in government.

Suffice it to say, he’s a proven leader who has an impressive record of success everywhere he’s worked. And now, with the Senate’s approval, he’s ready to bring his talents to public service ! I must say Jeff Zients is the right man to take the reins — an experienced leader who understands how large organizations work and how to drive their performance.
