Plugged In, Tuning Up: An Assessment of State Legislative Websites

State Responses and Updates
Vermont

Legislative directory

There is a legislative directory, prominently labeled "Legislative Directory" on our home page. The directory offers listings of both House and Senate members, both alphabetically and by district, email addresses, mailing labels, and a staff directory.

State Statutes

The state consitution and state statutes have been available for about five years. The link from the home page is "Vermont Statutes Online".

Legislative Calendars

The calendars of both House and Senate are posted daily. The link from the home page is "Today's Bills, Calendars, and Journals".

Legislative Journals

The journals of both House and Senate are posted daily. The link from the home page is "Today's Bills, Calendars, and Journals". The bill text is also available on the legislative sites.

Committee Schedules

The link from the home page is "Scheduled Committee Meetings" (since pages were viewed out of session, this was not found during the report time window).

Contact information for legal, research, budget, or clerical staffs

This is found under the legislative directory. The staff listing includes the staffs of the House and Senate Clerk's offices, the legal, research, budget, and clerical staffs, and the staffs of the few officers who have staffs (the Speaker, the Lt. Governor, and the President Pro Tempore).

State constitution

This is the first link on the Vermont Statutes Online page.

Links to local governments or to budget information

We provide a link to the main State of Vermont home page, which contains links to local governments.

Email address for feedback

This one is right at the bottom of the home page: "webmaster@leg.state.vt.us".
